Sajha Sabha Draws the Attention of Service Providers to be Transparent & Accountable towards Citizens
CDC-Nepal organized Sajha Sabha Nuwakot on August 30, 2019, focusing on the status of six major issues of Nuwakot district. (HEAD Coalition of Nuwakot) had organized a meeting to discuss priorities issues of district and listed the major issues to present in Sajha Sabha. After a series of meetings and informal discussions among the coalition members, journalists and other civil society members, as well as CA and LDAG members of grass root level as well. Sajha Sabha was convened to discuss these issues. Mr.Baburam Lamichhane CSO Leader presented the issues of the Likhu- Bidur Road (Dhikure) delay of road construction, issues of disallowed budget of Local-level (31 Coror amount in 12 local government ,issues of budgeting and planning process practices of local level etc.), Mr.Narayan Prasad Khatiwada member of Parliament (chief guest) , Ms. Kalpana Nepali member of Province assembly, DCC chairperson Mr. Santaman Tamang, Mrs Apshara Thapa vice-chairperson of DCC, Mr, Dorna Pokhrel Chief District Officer, Political leaders of three parties, chairperson and vice-chairperson of rural municipality of Nuwakot & Rasuwa district, leader of civil society organization, Mr. Kapil Dev Khanal chairperson of Nepal journalist Nuwakot were participated in the District level Sajha Sabha Program of Nuwakot. The meeting issued seven issues committed to fighting against corruption, enhance people’s participation in policy formulation, revision and implementation, stakeholder-based participatory monitoring, transparent and participatory based planning process and its implementation on development activities, disclose mandatory information and disallow budget of twelve local government of Nuwakot district. The local media (T.V Trishuli and Local newspaper) covered the event. The project chief of Dikure –Bidur road improvement project committed to start their work and prepared black-top road within this fiscal year.
Similarly, CDC-Nepal had organized a social audit of organization on 30th August 2019 with the presence of large numbers of stakeholders in Bidur, Nuwakot. Mr.Govinda Poudal, the social auditor had presented the key findings/achievement, result, budget, internal governance of organization, policies and procedure of CDC-Nepal to be accountable towards beneficiaries, marginalized community, local government as well as different stakeholders. Most of the beneficiaries and stakeholders appreciated to CDC-Nepal for the positive social transformation and development sectors in different thematic areas like Health, Education, Livelihood, DRR/CCA, Good Governance and WASH of Nuwakot & Rasuwa. During the program, more than 100 people from the different sector were participated and raise their issues and problem & appreciated CDC-Nepal’s approach for conveying their voice to authorities. Also, they well wish CDC-Nepal’s effort.
